Darwinex MT4 Update to New York Close Charts

25 May 2016

Great news for our MT4 traders: we are changing our MT4 server to New York close charts on Sunday 12 June 2016!

That’s right: when trading opens on 12 June 2016, our MT4’s charts will be on GMT +3 (instead of GMT +0) so our MT4 charts will contain only five daily candles per week.

Note: DST will be observed, our MT4 will display GMT +3 charts in summer time and GMT +2  charts when DST ends.

Why we change

Your wish is our command: we have been approached by thousands of traders asking us to change to NY close because this is the industry standard and most indicators, strategies & EAs are optimised for NY close charts.

Our current setup (GMT +0) produces six candles for five trading days, introducing a Sunday candle that makes price action trading & analysis more difficult.

Starting on 12 June 2016, new daily candles on our MT4 will begin at midnight for the time set on the server. By setting the server to GMT +3 (or GMT +2 when Daylight Saving Time ends), midnight on MT4 will occur at New York close, removing the 6th daily candle in our weekly charts.

Action required on your side

If you are not using an EA with a GMT offset, no action is necessary. However, if you are using an EA with a GMT offset setting, it is very important that you change the GMT offset to +3 on 11-12 June before  market opens on 12 June 2016.

Updating your charts

Charts should update automatically when you open your terminal. Should your charts not update automatically, please follow the steps below:

–> Open MT4 Terminal —> File –> Open Data Folder

The FCA Makes ESMA’s CFD Restrictions Permanent

4 July 2019

The new measure doesn’t affect us more than the ESMA intervention already did. And it affected us in a positive way, contributing to the improvement of our clients’ performance.

The UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) made the European Authority’s (ESMA) CFD restrictions permanent this week.

Some reactions to this we saw in user forums implied this was a “ban” of Contracts for Differentes (CFDs). Some even said it was “the end of Darwinex”.

We’d like to clarify that the FCA’s measure makes the restrictions we already applied last year permanent. But nothing else changes. It’s only that this time it’s the national regulator that said this while last year it was the ESMA.

The new measure doesn’t affect us more than the ESMA intervention already did. And it affected us in a positive way, contributing to the improvement of our clients’ performance.
