Darwinex MT4 Update to New York Close Charts

25 May 2016

Great news for our MT4 traders: we are changing our MT4 server to New York close charts on Sunday 12 June 2016!

That’s right: when trading opens on 12 June 2016, our MT4’s charts will be on GMT +3 (instead of GMT +0) so our MT4 charts will contain only five daily candles per week.

Note: DST will be observed, our MT4 will display GMT +3 charts in summer time and GMT +2  charts when DST ends.

Why we change

Your wish is our command: we have been approached by thousands of traders asking us to change to NY close because this is the industry standard and most indicators, strategies & EAs are optimised for NY close charts.

Our current setup (GMT +0) produces six candles for five trading days, introducing a Sunday candle that makes price action trading & analysis more difficult.

Starting on 12 June 2016, new daily candles on our MT4 will begin at midnight for the time set on the server. By setting the server to GMT +3 (or GMT +2 when Daylight Saving Time ends), midnight on MT4 will occur at New York close, removing the 6th daily candle in our weekly charts.

Action required on your side

If you are not using an EA with a GMT offset, no action is necessary. However, if you are using an EA with a GMT offset setting, it is very important that you change the GMT offset to +3 on 11-12 June before  market opens on 12 June 2016.

Updating your charts

Charts should update automatically when you open your terminal. Should your charts not update automatically, please follow the steps below:

–> Open MT4 Terminal —> File –> Open Data Folder

  –> Open History Folder

Snip20160611_226

–> Open Darwinex-Demo / Darwinex-Live

Snip20160611_227

–> Select the former .hst files –> Right click –> Delete

Snip20160612_1

Should you have any questions about the change to NY close, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@darwinex.com.

Move of DarwinIA allocations to new risk DARWINs

26 June 2020

Next Monday  29 June 2020 13:00 we will move DarwinIA allocations from the DARWINs of VaR 10% to those of VaR 6.5%.

Next Monday  29 June 2020 13:00 we will move DarwinIA allocations from the DARWINs of VaR 10% to those of VaR 6.5%.

For this move, it’s necessary to take into account the PnL of the allocation. That is, if a DARWIN of VaR 10% had an allocation of 20,000 and PnL of 1,000, what it will have after the migration to VaR 6.5% will be

(20000 + 1000) * 10/6.5

If it were a loss instead of a gain, it would be subtracted.

On July 1st the new DarwinIA prizes will be allocated to the 6.5% VaR DARWINs.

Upcoming closure of demo investments in DARWINs not present in any live portfolio

Starting today we will gradually close demo investments in those old risk DARWINs that aren’t present in any live portfolio.

Related to the pivot we announced earlier this week, starting today we will gradually close demo investments in old risk DARWINs that aren’t present in any live portfolio. Throughout the coming weeks we will close all demo investments in these DARWINs. Closed investments in old DARWINs won’t be automatically replaced with investments in the new DARWIN. You will need to buy the new version to continue demo investing in the DARWIN again.

To open the investment in the new DARWIN with the same risk/return level you had with the old DARWINs, multiply the old investment amount by 1.54.
