Information about CFDs for New Spanish Clients and/or Spain Residents

Hello everyone,


Below we explain the reasons that have led us to take measures regarding CFD trading for new Spanish clients and/or residents in Spain starting from 31st July 2024. Please note that everything mentioned below does not affect you if you already have an open real CFD account with Darwinex.


As you may already know, the Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV) published a resolution with intervention measures in CFDs in July of last year. Since a large part of Darwinex's business is based on CFDs and FX, and we cannot prevent our branding and distribution from reaching Spanish retail clients without knowledge or experience in these instruments, we are forced to stop offering both instruments.


This means that, unfortunately, we will stop offering CFDs to new retail Spanish clients and/or residents in Spain, both traders and investors, from 31st July 2024.

It is important to note that this measure does not affect you if you meet any of these conditions:
  • You currently have a real CFD account with Darwinex, either as a Trader or as an Investor in DARWINs.
  • You have completed the real account opening process before 31st July 2024.
  • You are categorised as a professional client with Darwinex. 


Although this decision has been difficult, we firmly believe it is the only possible solution to scrupulously comply with the CNMV's resolution.


Similarly, we take this opportunity to inform you that new clients affected by this measure who wish to join Darwinex have a powerful asset offering through our integration with Interactive Brokers to scale their trading. Stocks, ETFs and Futures are available for DARWIN accounts, and an even broader universe of assets is available through the classic account.
